Vinqua collects as little as it possibly can. There are no accounts, no payments, no advertising and no analytics or tracking cookies. You can run any number of reports without telling us anything about yourself.
What we process
A VIN you look up is sent to public government data sources (NHTSA and the EPA) in order to assemble your report. A VIN identifies a vehicle, not a person, and we do not ask who owns it. We do not store the VINs you look up.
Caching
Responses from those government sources are cached briefly so that repeat lookups are fast and so we stay within their rate limits. That cache is keyed by vehicle, contains only the public data those sources returned, and holds nothing about you.
Rate limiting
To stop automated bulk collection, we count recent requests against a short-lived, expiring counter derived from your IP address. It exists only to enforce the limit and is not used to build a profile, is not linked to the VINs you look up, and is discarded automatically.
What we never do
We do not sell data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we set no tracking cookies.
