A/C compressor not coming on when cabin A/C does. This means it is also not coming on to cool the battery, which could prevent proper battery thermal management, raising safety and performance risks in hot climates. A/C compressor and inverter have been replaced without resolving the issue. It has been to two dealerships that independently diagnosed the problem as the A/C compressor. The car is currently at Allen Turner Genesis in Pensacola, FL so it should be available for inspection. There were no warning lamps illuminated.
This complaint is in regards to Safety Recall 272 Component Failure and Vehicle Disabling / SOS System Failure On [XXX], at approximately [XXX] PM, I was driving my Genesis vehicle during rush hour when I heard a loud popping sound. Immediately following the sound, the dashboard displayed a critical warning light stating: "Electrical Charging System Fault — Check Electrical System." Because I was actively driving in heavy rush-hour traffic, this sudden loss of charging system functionality posed an immediate safety hazard. I pressed the in-vehicle "SOS" button to contact Genesis emergency services. The operator, who identified himself as "Eddie," refused to dispatch a tow truck to assist me. Instead, he offered to read a phone number aloud for me to write down. I explained that I was actively operating a malfunctioning vehicle in heavy traffic and could not safely write down information, but he still refused to call for emergency towing. I managed to safely limp the vehicle back to my residence and subsequently arranged for the local dealership, Genesis of Las Vegas, to tow the vehicle. On Friday, June 5, 2026, the dealership confirmed that the vehicle had suffered a failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), which also destroyed the 12V battery. They informed me that this failure was directly tied to NHTSA Safety Recall 272 (Integrated Charging Control Unit). While the dealership performed the ICCU remedy, they are currently refusing to release my vehicle unless I pay $500.00 for the replacement of the 12V battery. Because the 12V battery was directly damaged as a consequential result of the recalled ICCU defect, it should be covered under the safety recall remedy and vehicle warranty. As of this reporting, the dealer is holding my vehicle hostage over this fee, and Genesis Motor America has failed to resolve the issue despite a formal complaint being filed with them. Related Recall: 24-01-023G DTC P1A9096 CHECK FOR ICCU & FUSE REPLACEMENT & ICCU SOFTWARE UPDATE (RECALL 021G) On August 8, 2025 I was vacationing and attempted to charge the vehicle at a hotel's level 2 destination charger (32 amp) but the vehicle refused to charge. I then drove 20 minutes away to DC Fast Charge and it worked, and tried level 2 charging again, it still did not work. I ruled out that the level 2 charging station was the problem due to seeing someone else successfully charging from that station. When I returned home, I found that my home charger also stopped charging at 32 amps (though slower 16 amps still worked). On December 14, 2025 I was driving on the highway when I heard a loud pop noise and the vehicle immediately lost propulsion, resulting in a dangerous situation where the car needed to limp at low speeds to the side of the road. There, the car fully lost all mobility and needed to be towed to a Genesis dealership. They diagnosed the problem as a faulty ICCU, and replaced it as well as installed new software to prevent this situation from reoccurring. In May 29, 2026 the vehicle once again no longer charges at 32 amps at home. The charging would initiate and last a few minutes before fully disengaging and the car reports "Charger Not Connected". Since this is a repeat of the same ICCU failure (above), and I DO NOT wish to lose vehicle propulsion on the highway like before, I have stopped driving the vehicle until it can be diagnosed and fixed by Genesis dealership. I am awaiting for the local Genesis dealership's next availability in a week. I no longer can safely drive my vehicle until this is fixed for a second time. The issue is still unresolved as of today, June 8th 2026.
2023 Genesis GV60 has a recurring pre-active seat belt system malfunction. The seat belt pre-tensioner activates without cause, tightening the seat belt unexpectedly while driving. This defect has occurred multiple times and has been documented across three separate dealer repair visits. Visit 1 (05/30/2025, 7,122 mi): Galpin Genesis Van Nuys - DTC B1A4718 stored, seat belt pre-tensioner malfunction diagnosed. Visit 2 (06/06/2025, 7,179 mi): Genesis Pasadena - Same defect recurred, DTC B1A4718 confirmed again. Visit 3 (06/13/2025, 7,220 mi): Genesis of West Covina - Defect persisted, same DTC confirmed a third time. The defect poses a serious safety risk as unexpected seat belt tightening while driving can startle the driver and cause loss of vehicle control. Genesis has been unable to permanently repair this defect despite three attempts. This vehicle is also subject to related NHTSA recalls 23V-557 and 23V-094 for seat belt issues on GV60 models.
The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) on my Genesis GV60 called Highway Driving Assist (HDA) would randomly turn off without warning ever since I purchased the vehicle. I use it pretty much daily for my commute to work (but have to watch closely since it turns off often without warning) and the system would randomly turn off a least a few times a day so I would need to take over quickly. Yesterday when I was driving in the carpool HOV lane in the Los Angeles area where some sections of the freeway have lane markers that are very close to the center divider and the car decided to randomly turn off ADAS without warning which resulted in a car swipe against the center divider and damaged the front bumper as well as a broken side rearview mirror. I did a random search online and found lots of complaints from other Genesis/Hyundai/Kia owners who have similar issues am surprised why nothing has been done about it so I decided to report this. The repair would cost me almost 4 thousand dollars all because of the manufacturer defect that probably could be easily fixed with over the air update. Please investigate to prevent other drivers from getting into a crash for this defective. Thanks.
The ICCU failed again. This is the second failure and this failure occurred after the previous recalls were applied.
I purchased a used 2023 Genesis GV60 on [XXX] from a franchised Genesis dealer in New Jersey (Genesis of Wayne, Wayne, NJ). At the time of delivery, the vehicle had an open safety recall with an available remedy and it was not completed prior to sale/delivery. After purchase, Genesis’ official recall/campaign lookup for my VIN showed at least one open safety recall listed as “Incomplete.” The dealer had represented that recalls were addressed, but Genesis’ system continued to show the safety recall as open. Vehicle: 2023 Genesis GV60 VIN: [enter full VIN] Recall/Campaign information shown as open/incomplete: •Campaign/Recall 027G (NHTSA Recall No. 25V474000) – Instrument panel cluster display may go blank (software update). Status shown as incomplete at/after delivery. •[If applicable] Campaign/Recall 028G – [Windshield molding / other campaign], status shown as incomplete at/after delivery. I am submitting this report because the vehicle was delivered to a consumer with an open safety recall that had an available remedy, and the manufacturer’s own system indicated the recall remained incomplete. I can provide supporting documentation upon request (Genesis recall lookup screenshots showing “Incomplete,” dealer sale paperwork, and communications). Car stopped taking a charge. ICCU and fuse seem to have died. This widespread problem needs to be addressed by the manufacturer. It's dangerous and careless to not have fixed the issue years later.
While driving car, I heard a "pop" sound coming from the back seat, my ICCU had failed and then there was a sudden loss vehicle power and the car went into a limp mode. The car only had 5,650 miles on it. This is a serious safety hazard. The car was towed to the dealership and a new ICCU was installed. The replacement part was the same model number that had failed. I was advised by the service adviser that I could possibly experience another ICCU failure in the future.
Complete ICCU failure resulting in loss of power on the freeway during rush hour, extremely dangerous for me and everyone around me. Car was towed twice over three years for the same issue, despite having all recalls done. Eventually lemon law eligible, did a buyback.
In 2023 & 2025, my vehicle had been brought into the Genesis dealership to complete NHTSA 24V868000 safety recall by receiving a new software (Service Campaigns 907G & 025G). However, despite that, on [XXX], the vehicle's ICCU failed while I was traveling at highway speeds. The ICCU is the primary component that the safety recall was supposed to address, yet it failed anyways. The car suddenly and dangerously reduced propulsion on the freeway, and I had to slowly maneuver the car onto the shoulder where the car then completely lost all propulsion entirely. My family and I were in the car, and our safety was at extreme risk since the car lost propulsion without warning on the freeway and other vehicles had to swerve around us. There was the very real possibility that had I not reacted quickly, that we would have been fully immobilized on the freeway, blocking traffic and creating a real safety hazard for other vehicles. There were no warning lights or any indications that the part was going to fail -- it failed immediately, and only after that did multiple warning messages appeared due to systems downstream of the ICCU failing as a result of the ICCU's failure. The dealership (Genesis of Dublin) confirmed that the failure was specific to the ICCU and the vehicle had its ICCU replaced under the 10 year powertrain warranty. I have documentation proving that the problem was caused by the ICCU's failure. In addition, the ICCU's replacement with an identical ICCU simply means this extremely dangerous hazard can occur again without warning in 1 to 2 years' time, since the replaced ICCU is the same unit that failed before - no updates to the ICCU have been announced by Genesis or its dealerships. I reiterate: the problem persists despite 24V868000 being preventative recalls completed. Recall 907G Completed 10/26/23 Recall 025G Completed 01/13/25 The above mitigations are not enough to fix the problem and avoid a dangerous situation. My Genesis EV has experienced multiple incidents where the vehicle suddenly decelerates while driving and limits its speed to approximately 20 mph, creating a significant safety hazard. The first incident occurred in September 2025, when the vehicle unexpectedly began to decelerate on its own and would not exceed ~20 mph. I brought it to the Genesis dealership, but they were unable to reproduce the issue. The second incident occurred in November 2025, with the same failure: sudden deceleration and a maximum speed of ~20 mph. I brought the vehicle back to the dealership. They have kept the car for diagnosis but again report they “cannot reproduce” the problem. The issue remains unresolved, and Genesis has denied my buyback request. This is an intermittent EV drivetrain or power-delivery failure that prevents the vehicle from accelerating normally. If this occurs in traffic, at intersections, or during merging, it could easily lead to a collision. The vehicle is currently still at the dealership because I do not feel safe driving it. Multiple attempts to have the problem repaired have not identified the cause. I am reporting this because sudden loss of acceleration and speed limitation is a major safety issue, and other drivers may experience the same failure.
