TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 JAGUAR XJ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WATER WAS ENTERING THE FUEL LINES AND SPREADING THROUGH THE FUEL TANK, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE ENGINE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR THEM TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000. Issue: THE STEERING ASSEMBLY WAS FITTED WITH INCORRECT SPECIFICATION NUTS. THESE NUTS RETAIN THE TRACK ROD END BALL PINS TO THE STEERING ARMS.
Risk: THIS CONDITION CAN RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL NEW CORRECT SPECIFICATION NUTS ON THE STEERING LINKAGE ASSEMBLY.
