LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE07/17/2026
The vehicle suffers from severe, persistent electrical and powertrain failures that compromise safe operation. Multiple Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) have completely failed, including the Lane Keeping Assistance, Blind Spot Warning, and Forward Collision Warning systems. When driving, the vehicle constantly flashes erratic dashboard warning messages and emits continuous warning chimes without cause. In addition to the electrical failures, the powertrain malfunctions; the vehicle jolts violently upon acceleration, behaving as though the transmission is failing.Safety Risks: These failures create immediate safety hazards. The unexpected transmission jolts cause unpredictable acceleration when merging or stepping on the gas. The loss of forward collision and blind spot warnings leaves me without critical safety buffers, and the constant flashing lights and beeping create a severe driver distraction.Inspection and Diagnosis: The vehicle has been taken to an authorized dealership service center multiple times for these specific issues. However, the service department has refused to properly document the complaints on the repair orders or perform standard diagnostics, falsely claiming the safety sensors are just "dirty" and blaming the transmission behavior on driver habits. The vehicle and its malfunctioning components remain fully available for inspection.Onset: These symptoms first appeared shortly after purchasing the vehicle and have grown progressively worse.

I am writing to request immediate assistance with our Jeep, which has become a serious safety hazard for our family. We purchased the jeep less than 2 years ago and over the past three months it has repeatedly failed to start or has stalled unexpectedly, leaving us stranded on multiple occasions. Despite taking the vehicle to dealership and other service centers four times, no one has been able to diagnose or repair the issue. The vehicle often starts normally for technicians after being towed, only to fail again once we have it back. On our most recent visit to a dealership, we were charged $180 for diagnostics, yet the 3 of 5 XXX 3:01 PM XXX Claim Form [XXX]!!production\customer\customer_c... problem persists. When I called today for further help, we were turned away. This ongoing issue has created significant safety risks. The Jeep has stalled at traffic lights on multiple occasions, including one near-miss with a tractor-trailer. My husband works in a high-risk environment, and reliable transportation is essential for our family’s safety. As a registered nurse, I have already missed work due to these breakdowns and am at risk of jeopardizing my career. We have also been forced to miss important family events and cancel vacation plans. The financial burden has been devastating. We have spent a substantial amount of money on repeated towing, diagnostics, and repairs, leaving us struggling to cover basic household bills. For the safety of our children and our family, we urgently request that you repurchase or replace this vehicle under your responsibilities as a dealership. We can no longer accept the ongoing risk and unreliability. I kindly ask for a prompt response and a resolution within the next few business days. Please contact me at [XXX] or [XXX] to discuss next steps. Thank you for your immediate attention to this serious matter. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE07/06/2026
I am reporting a severe, life-threatening safety defect involving intermittent "phantom braking" (unwarranted activation of the Automatic Emergency Braking / AEB system) on my 2024 Jeep Compass while driving at highway speeds. On multiple occasions while traveling on the freeway, the vehicle has suddenly and aggressively slammed on the brakes with absolutely no obstacles, vehicles, or hazards in front of it. The vehicle anchors the brakes without warning, causing rapid and dangerous deceleration from 60-70 mph. This has nearly resulted in catastrophic rear-end collisions from vehicles traveling behind me. The issue is highly intermittent and unpredictable. It appears to be a major defect in the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)—specifically the forward-facing camera or radar modules—which are misinterpreting road conditions, shadows, or reflections as an imminent collision threat. We have actively tried to get this resolved through the Classic Jeep, Madison ohio. The vehicle has been brought into the dealership service department several times for this exact occurrence. A corporate safety "SAFE case" was opened CN102930576 , and most recently, the customer service manager test-drove the vehicle for 4 to 5 days. Because the issue is intermittent, they were unable to replicate it during that specific timeframe, found no active error codes in the computer, and performed no repairs. The vehicle was returned to us completely unresolved and remains an active danger to drive. The manufacturer's inability to replicate a highly intermittent software or sensor defect does not negate the severe danger this vehicle poses. Sudden, unprompted hard braking at 65+ mph creates an immediate risk of a multi-car highway accident. I am filing this complaint to urge the NHTSA to investigate 2024 Jeep Compass forward collision warning and AEB systems before this defect causes a serious or fatal crash.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE05/27/2026
Multiple critical safety systems fail intermittently: Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) disables itself randomly while driving, Lane Steering Assist becomes unavailable, frequent ‘Service 4WD’ warnings, and ‘Power Steering System Hot - Performance May Be Limited’ warning. Issues worsened after transfer case replacement on April 27, 2026. Dealership admitted ‘these lights appear all the time… there’s nothing we can do.’ This matches many other 2024/2025 Compass complaints on NHTSA. I no longer feel safe driving the vehicle. The car has also been using a lot more gas since these issues started. I’m not sure what date this started, but the first time (1/3) that I brought it to the dealership was March 20th 2026.

We purchased our 2024 jeep Compass on 12-10-2024 with about 3,000 miles on it. Our problems started on the vehicle on or about Nov. 2025. First the lane assist would go out and we were unable to turn it back on, when we tried the light in the button would blink 2 times then stay on. We reached home and shut car off and when we started it we pressed lane assist and it worked. We drove it for about 3 weeks then it happened again. My wife pulled over and tried to turn on switch again. It blinked 2 times and stood on, she shut off car and then restarted it and the switch worked and lane assist came on. We brought car to service senter and they adjusted front camera and cleared code. the lane assist goes out about once a week and we shut car off and restart for it to work. Now about a month ago all the lights on dash went on and the warning lights on both mirrors stood on. We brought car to dealer on 04-29-2026 with the lights on and left car. The dealer said they found these codes, B178F-12, U0422 and U148d. The dealer said they found no updates for this concern and cleared codes and performed proxi alignment and they road tested and no codes came up. We took car home and about 2 weeks the lane assist came back on and had to shut off car to reset it. My wife is worried to drive alone in the car.I have brought the car in at least 3 times for lane assist . Please let us know what to do...
AIR BAGS,SEAT BELTScrash05/19/2026
I was involved in an auto accident on May 18, 2026. I was hit by a person driving a Honda Accord on the side of my vehicle. The impact made all of the passenger side airbags deploy, but only the driver’s side steering wheel airbag and knee airbag deployed on the driver’s side of my vehicle. Also, the seatbelt did not lock, so I was forced into the driver’s door.
LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE05/14/2026
Adaptive Cruise Control & Phantom Braking: On multiple occasions while traveling at highway speeds (approx. 70 mph), the vehicle has engaged in aggressive "phantom braking." Despite clear road conditions and no vehicles or obstacles in the vehicle's path, the system suddenly slams on the brakes, dropping the speed to 50–55 mph. This creates an immediate risk of a high-speed rear-end collision. The instrument cluster frequently displays service warnings for the FCW, ABS, BLIS and the lane departure systems. Transmission & Powertrain Hesitation: At lower speeds, the transmission exhibits significant hesitation and "sputtering." When attempting to accelerate from a low speed or a stop, the vehicle falters and fails to engage smoothly until significant additional throttle is applied. This erratic power delivery causes the vehicle to lurch, which is particularly dangerous when merging into traffic or turning across lanes, as the vehicle does not respond predictably to driver input. Manufacturer/Dealer Response: I presented these safety concerns to a local Jeep dealership, suggesting a software glitch or sensor malfunction. Despite the vehicle being well within the factory warranty period, the dealership refused to perform diagnostic work or updates under warranty, stating I would be responsible for labor costs because the cause could be "numerous things."
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE05/13/2026
While on the open road, no vehicles or obstructions ahead or behind, the jeep suddenly and momentarily jolted. Causing a similar reaction to what it feels like to have a minor collision, a sudden application of brakes, or perhaps a similar feeling hitting something small at highway speeds.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE05/05/2026
Driving the vehicle under normal conditions and no obstacles in the vicinity, the forward collision warning will engage and in some instances cause automatic breaking causing temporary loss of control. Sensors are clean, software appears up to date.
