The engine unexpectedly shut down while I was driving my 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon at approximately 30 mph. There was no apparent cause for the shutdown. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The sudden engine shutdown caused an unexpected loss of power while the vehicle was moving in traffic. This created a safety hazard because I could no longer maintain speed and was at risk of being struck by other vehicles. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The vehicle has not yet been confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. They couldn’t fix problem because there is no software update to fix vehicle issue. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? "The vehicle has not been inspected by the dealership. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms before the engine shut down. In total there are 3 recalls that made this vehicle unreliable and a safety concern.
My jeep bricked and would would not move. I reset uconnect to get it to my house and had it towed to the dealership. They performed a temporary fix. However, since 10/2026 there has been no final fix. I’m not sure how safe I am to drive this car I spent $63,000 on or how long is reasonable for a fix.
After recall 68C (NHTSA 25V-741), a software-only update applied after my high-voltage battery passed physical inspection, my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe began severely limiting battery discharge power during normal driving. This was not present before the update. The vehicle limits high-voltage battery output during sustained load, such as climbing grades and highway merging, at states of charge as high as 75% or more, worsening as charge drops toward 50% and below. The limiting persists after the load is removed, continuing on flat ground and even while descending, showing it is held by control software rather than being a momentary response to demand. This is a safety concern because the power loss occurs without warning during the exact maneuvers that require power: accelerating up grades and merging into highway traffic. A sudden, sustained reduction in propulsion power while merging or climbing risks being unable to accelerate out of a hazard or keep pace with traffic. I captured OBD-II data from the battery control module during these events. The cooling system works correctly (coolant chilled about 25F below its starting temperature), yet available discharge power still dropped about 16% over 25 minutes, and one cell location stayed hot while the rest of the pack cooled. This indicates the software is derating the battery due to a single degraded cell (identified by the module as Cell 73) that the recall's own pass/fail inspection did not detect. Running the A/C gave only brief, partial recovery before the limit re-engaged. The remedy appears to mask rather than correct a battery cell defect, creating an unpredictable propulsion-power-loss condition that did not exist before. I request NHTSA review whether the 68C remedy is adequate and whether affected vehicles need battery inspection or replacement rather than a software derate.
I am filing a Recall Remedy Failure complaint regarding NHTSA Recall No. 26V-363 for my 2024 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. This safety recall was issued in June 2026 due to a fire risk that can occur while the vehicle is parked. Despite the recall having been announced, the recall status continues to state, “Recall incomplete, remedy not yet available.” I have contacted Stellantis on multiple occasions and have consistently been informed that no repair remedy is available, no replacement parts have been released, and there is no estimated timeline for when the defect will be corrected. The manufacturer and dealership has been unable to provide any meaningful interim safety measures or alternative solution. Because this defect involves a potential vehicle fire, I have been unable to safely use or park the vehicle. A reasonable amount of time has passed since the recall was announced, yet the manufacturer has still failed to provide a remedy as required under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this matter as a Recall Remedy Failure and take appropriate enforcement action. I am also requesting that the manufacturer be required to provide an appropriate remedy, including a vehicle buyback if it is unable to remedy the safety defect within the timeframe required by federal law.
I was driving my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe on a public road when the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of propulsion. Before driving, the check engine light was illuminated, and the air conditioner was blowing hot air instead of cold. Shortly after pulling onto the roadway and while approaching a stoplight, the vehicle lost power while it was still in motion and became inoperable, requiring it to be towed to the dealership. The dashboard displayed “Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System.” The vehicle has fewer than 20,000 miles. I believe this is a serious safety concern because the loss of propulsion occurred while driving, leaving me stranded in traffic. I no longer feel confident in the safety and reliability of this vehicle.
My 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has been subject to four safety recalls in the ten months I have owned it, three involving vehicle fire risk: 56C/25V-527 (TPMS, completed), 68C/25V-741 (high-voltage battery cell separator damage/fire risk, completed), 78C/25V-766 (casting sand contamination of the engine), and 21D/26V-363 (electric hydraulic power steering pump overheating/fire risk). Recall 78C was announced November 6, 2025, warning that my engine may be contaminated with casting sand and may suffer catastrophic engine failure, a vehicle fire, or an unexpected and unrecoverable loss of propulsion. More than eight months later, no remedy has been performed on my vehicle and the recall remains open. Recall 21D is also open, with FCA instructing me to park outside and away from structures because the vehicle may catch fire even while parked with the ignition off. Under recall 68C I was previously instructed not to charge the vehicle.
"The vehicle suffered a sudden, catastrophic high-voltage powertrain failure while operating at highway speeds 300 miles away from home. The failure occurred immediately after the vehicle received the manufacturer's Safety Recall 68C / NHTSA Campaign Number 24V-814 software update. The software flash completely 'bricked' the high-voltage battery system, induced an immediate vehicle shutdown, and stripped all hybrid propulsion. This defect created an immediate and severe highway safety hazard, rendering the vehicle entirely inoperable on the spot. The manufacturer is currently replacing the defective hardware with an identical physical battery cell structure, which fails to permanently resolve the underlying thermal fire risk and recurring safety hazard."

The dealer was contacted and informed that the earliest availability to inspect the vehicle was July 24, 2026, and the vehicle would be repaired later if necessary. The contact stated that the vehicle served as the daily mode of transportation for the owner, who was handicapped and required regular medical appointments. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the issue. The owner had not experienced a failure.

My 2024 Wrangler 4xe has 27,000 miles on it. On Friday, 7/10/2026 around 7:00 in the morning the check engine light came on. I immediately called the dealer to set up an appointment and they could not get me in until 7/15/2026. At about 9:30am that day when I was pulling a small trailer the battery light also came as I was driving on the interstate. As soon as I exited and slowed down, the car lost all power. It would not start or move. I was stranded on the exit ramp in the turn lane, with a trailer, unable to get to the shoulder. There was quite a bit of traffic around me. I was able to have it towed to the dealer. I had to safely get out of the vehicle and direct traffic around the vehicle. Today, 7/15/2026, the dealer ran the diagnostics and determined that the hybrid battery has failed and needs to be replaced. The car currently has 27,000 miles on it and this is now the second hybrid battery replacement and the third time the Jeep has stranded me and has required a tow to the dealer. It is unreliable and unsafe as it becomes immobile and loses power on the roadway.

While driving in Electric Mode this morning, my Jeep experienced a loss of motive power in traffic. When the power loss occurred, I pressed the accelerator, and nothing happened. Moments later, I got a warning telling me Electric Mode Unavailable. Then, a couple moments later again, the gasoline engine started and the vehicle surged ahead nearly causing a collision. Since the 68C Recall was performed the vehicle randomly and unexpectedly experiences this phenomenon. The vehicle was previously left at the dealer to repair this defect. No repair was made. The dealer stated that it drives normal but also stated that power loss is now forced by software after the 68C Recall Software Update and it is now normal to lose electrical motive power in order to keep the battery from getting hot. The danger is that this happens unexpectedly in the past, and happened unexpectedly again, causing traffic around me to take action. It is important to note that this phenomenon occurred today and generally occurs usually below 45-50% Hybrid Battery Charge.
