While driving at approximately 70MPH on the highway, my 2014 Hyundai Tucson Limited suddenly locked up with no warning lights, no noise and no prior symptoms. The engine completely seized, causing immediate loss of power. I was barely able to coast off the highway exit to a final stop on the feeder shoulder, in a desolate area. The vehicle has always been properly maintained and is in excellent condition. Upon research, I learned that Hyundai has known of internal engine defects caused by metallic debris left from manufacturing since 2010, which can cause bearing failure and engine seizure. My Tucson's failure matches the same pattern described in Hyundai's Theta II engine recall and warranty extension campaigns. This sudden failure created an extremely dangerous situation at highway speed and possibility of injury while being stranded on an open road. Many owners, myself included, were never properly notified of the risks. I am filing this report because this incident represents a serious safety defect and potential recurrence among similar vehicles that may not yet be covered by recall. I respectfully request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigate this issue and ensure Hyundai expands its recall and warranty coverage to include affected 2014 Hyundai Tucson Limited vehicles exhibiting this defect that was well-known to the Hyundai Corporation. Date of Incident: October 23,2025 in Houston Texas. Vehicle towed to Hyundai dealer which diagnosed Engine Seized and currently awaiting Warranty Extension Approval (TXXC/TXXI)
I have had intermittent brake pedal to the floor issue for the past two years. It started off occasionally, but turned into daily. It's very very dangerous as the brakes barely work. To remedy, I had the brake rotors and pads changed, brake fluid flushed. Did not fix the issue. Had the Master Cylinder replaced and it fixed the issue, but then two days later my brakes started binding (opposite problem). Replaced the HECU / ABS Module and still have the same issue. Now the car is not drivable because the brakes are binding. I called a local Hyundai Dealership to see if they would try a goodwill HECU service, since previous years Hyundai Genesis were recalled with the exact same issue, but they said they would not do it for me. So I am trying to work out the issue through independent mechanics. This is a very dangerous issue as the brakes do not work and is a widespread issue affecting multiple BH model Hyundai Genesis owners.
All my dash lites came on dealership said the HECU unit was bad not under recall the coup is but the 4 door isn’t I’ve been waiting a month for part on backorder can’t drive my car too dangerous brakes may not work if my sedan is not under recall then why are the parts on backorder with no ETA car not safe to drive yet can’t get fixed
My HECU unit failed at only 61k miles. My car is a sedan not a coup, so Hyundai does not want to cover it under the recall. This is redicules, my safety is at steak
HECU failure only has 61k this is an ongoing issue with Hyundai. Hyundai covers the 2014 coup, but not the sedan in a recall for this issue. I don’t understand the difference.
It's termed as a "Dead Pedal" with the accelerator pedal sensor as to when the accelerator pedal is applied to move the car, the signal to apply gas to the engine to move it , doe's not happen, and the car will not move, momentarily causing a very unsafe situation in traffic. this problem is sporadic and you never know when it will happen. to my knowledge this is happening in the 2009 to 2015 models Hyundai Genesis cars with the 3.8 and 4.6 and 5.0 engines. Any car with the drive by wire is effected with this problem, and should be looked into and repaired. I have not gone to the dealer with this problem and there is no check engine light on when it happens.
The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the contact heard an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where he was informed that the sound was normal. The contact stated that the sound remained. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE HEAD REST HIT ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD PUT OUT ON BOTH SIDES. CAME LOOKING TO SE IF THEIR WAS A RECALL DID NOT SEE IT ON HERE IT NEED TO BE LISTED GOOD THING THER WAS NOT A CAR AHEAD OF ME THAT WOULD HAVE AN UNECCESARY ACCIDENT.
HYUNDAI INSTALLED A DEFECTIVE WHEEL ON MY 2014 GENESIS 4 DR SEDAN AT THE FACTORY KNOWING IT WAS DEFECTIVE BUT; BUT BECAUSE THE WHEEL BALANCED, THEY HID IT FROM THE BUYER. DEFECT DISCOVERED AT THE FIRST REPLACEMENT OF TIRES ABOUT SEP 9 2019. DEFECT A 3 " SMOOTH, SYMERTICAL, CONCENTRIC BULGE IN THE RIM . DEALER, HYUNDAIA, REFUSED TO REPLACE THE RIM.
WHEN DRIVING WITH HEADLIGHTS ON, THE HEADLIGHTS SOMETIMES FLICKER WHEN USING THE TURN SIGNAL STALK, OCCASIONALLY GOING OUT UNTIL THE STALK IS JIGGLED. THIS HAPPENS REPEATEDLY.
I GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT IN OCTOBER 2019 WHERE I WAS REAR ENDED AND CARRIED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE BUT MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ALTHOUGH MY HEADRESTS DID DEPLOY BUT PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT MY CAR WOULD FISHTAIL WHEN MAKING TURNS WHEN THE ROADS WERE WET AND WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC MY CAR LOSES ACCELERATION ALL ON ITS OWN AND THEN GRADUALLY PICKS UP SPEED AGAIN I'VE ALMOST GOT HIT SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE OF THIS. ALSO MY CAR HAS SHUT OFF ON ITS OWN IN TRAFFIC WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC IT WAS VERY SCARY WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO THE CAR AND THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. NOW MY CAR IS SHOWING A LOT OF HARD CODE ERRORS FROM THE ABS/ESC SYSTEM TO POWER SEAT MODULES THEY SAY IT'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE COMPUTER SYSTEM ITSELF BECAUSE IT DOESN'T NOTIFY YOU OF ANY ISSUES ON THE DASHBOARD AT ALL. AND TODAY I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC SHOP AND MULTIPLE B CODES SHOWED UP WHICH DIDN'T MAKE ANY SENSE EVEN CAM SENSOR CODES AND I JUST GOT THIS CAR IN MARCH 2019.
CAR ENGINE SHUTS OFF/STOPS RUNNING, WITHOUT WARNING, WHILE DRIVING. HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS. AT SLOWER SPEED, IN TOWN, COMING TO A STOP OR SLOWING FOR A TURN. CAR STARTS BACK UP RIGHT AWAY, AND WON'T STOP AGAIN FOR A LONG TIME. ALSO CAN'T MAKE IT STOP ON PURPOSE.
