There as been a recall on this Range Rover for 1 year with no remedy. Range Rover customer service offers no answers or help. Dealership inspects vehicles at no cost. How ever with out the recall being fixed this vehicle is useless and unsafe. How long is it resonance to wait for a remedy. Over a year is far too long something needs to be done.

On [XXX], my 2017 Land Rover Range Rover HSE Td6 diesel (VIN: [XXX] ) suffered a complete, catastrophic engine failure without warning at approximately 70 mph on [XXX] . My wife and our two infant sons (ages [XXX] and [XXX] ) were passengers. There were no prior warning lights or symptoms. The engine stopped instantaneously, eliminating power steering and power brakes while I was overtaking a semi-truck in the passing lane. We narrowly reached the shoulder safely. The odometer read 79,018 miles — inside both limits of the federally mandated 8-year/80,000-mile emissions warranty under 40 CFR §85.2103. The vehicle was 7 years old at time of failure. Hoehn Land Rover Carlsbad diagnosed complete engine failure caused by timing chain guide failure — a known defect pattern in the Ingenium diesel engine. The service manager stated failures like this "aren't that rare" with these engines. Repair estimate: $28,000–$30,000. Jaguar Land Rover North America (Case #[XXX]) denied the warranty claim entirely, offering $800, without ever evaluating the claim under the active federal emissions warranty. I am filing a safety complaint regarding a defective diesel emissions system and persistent warning condition in my 2017 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Diesel vehicle that presents a serious safety hazard to myself and others. The vehicle was purchased from Ewing Buick GMC in Plano, Texas, [XXX] and was advertised as being in good condition and ready for sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle appeared to have undergone preparation and inspection-related services, which gave the impression that it was safe and roadworthy. Dealer informed me of no inspection being performed. Shortly after purchase, the vehicle began displaying persistent emissions-related warnings (DEF system / engine warning). I initially had the vehicle inspected, and serviced for repairs by Royse City Auto Care, where diagnostic information indicated emissions-related faults. Due to the seriousness of the issue, the vehicle was then taken to an authorized Land Rover service center for further diagnosis. Land Rover technicians indicated that potential causes may include a knock sensor or related module failure; however, they stated that these repairs are not guaranteed to resolve the issue. The warning condition remains active and unresolved. The vehicle now presents a critical safety concern. The emissions system warning includes a mileage countdown that will eventually prevent the vehicle from being driven once it reaches zero. This creates a dangerous situation where I may be unable to operate the vehicle at all, potentially leaving me stranded in unsafe conditions. Additionally, the vehicle may enter reduced power mode (limp mode) or experience loss of power while driving. These conditions significantly increase the risk of an accident, especially on highways or in traffic. As a result, my safety and the safety of others on the road are put at risk. There is a recall on the Range Rover that does not have a remedy. This is a vehicle that generates income off renting out which can not be done until recall is resolved.
